Main Yuvraj

Main Yuvraj is an Indian film starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif and is slated to be released in 2008 . This film is directed by Subhash Ghai and produced by him as well. Ghai's favourite, A.R. Rahman, will be providing the music for this film. According to Subhash Ghai the film is about the arrogance and overconfidence of contemporary youth. "Everyone wants to be a rock star, regardless of whether they have the morals to go with the appellation.". 'Main Yuvraj' means 'I am the prince' and it hasn't been revealed yet who the prince is; it could be either Salman or Anil.

Subhash Ghai’s directorial venture has finally been titled. The film has been named "Main Yuvraj". It will be a multi-starrer, the cast of which has been decided by the ace director. Bollywood bigwigs like Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor had already been chosen to play pivotal roles. Ghai was looking for a leading lady. He recently signed Katrina Kaif for the same. Produced and directed by Subhash Ghai, Main Yuvraj is a musical based on a subject written by Sachin Bhowmick and Kamlesh Pandey. The musical score will be provided by the talented A R Rehman. The film is slated to go on floors on 6th June 2007, and will be completed within six months.

Mumbai, Nov 12 (IANS) Katrina Kaif is infuriated with reports suggesting that Subhash Ghai has signed her for his new directorial venture Main Yuvraj on Salman Khan's recommendation.

"It's so stupid to think like that, specially now when I have 'Namaste London' to my credit. Actually, I met Subhashji long before. He had offered me a film. I think it was 'Kisna'. Now for 'Main Yuvraj' he asked Vipul Shah to show him my work in 'Namaste London'. That's how I think he decided on me," Katrina told IANS.

Trying to curb her annoyance at Salman-centric interpretations to her career progress, Katrina said: "Do people think Subhashji is the kind of filmmaker who can be influenced by people into signing anyone? He has always gone by what is right for his film."

Katrina plays a musician in Main Yuvraj and is paired with Salman.

"It's the role of a modern musician and I play a musical instrument in it. I didn't want to get into this role just anyhow. I wanted to be fully prepared."

The wagging tongues don't bother her much. The actress, who has just completed Abbas-Mustan's Race, has plenty to be happy about. Her heroine-centric role in Namaste London has elicited appreciation not just from critics but also from the masses.

"Yeah, the film was a hit and I think I proved my critics wrong. Not that 'Namaste London' is my first success. My 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya' and then 'Sarkar' were also successful. But it's good to be recognised in a film that revolves around you."

She considers Ghai's new Main Yuvraj as a big move.

"It's a big move because banner-wise Subhashji is just the top-of-the-shelf and I love the way he presents heroines. Look at Mahima Chaudhary in 'Pardes' and Meenakshi Sheshadri in 'Hero'. Even in masculine films like 'Karma' and 'Ram Lakhan', Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit were no walkovers. So, yeah, I'm really looking forward to it," she said.

At Last Salman agree with Subhash

Actor Salman Khan, with whom
Subhash Ghai once had a major run-in, is back in the showman’s camp. Ask the
seasoned film-maker about it and he explains, “If you love someone deeply, he’s
bound to come back into your life. Salman and I share a deep bond. Somewhere, he
always wanted to work with me.” Ghai says he’s always treated Bollywood’s
troubled Khan like a child. “He is like a child and he’s my friend Salim Saab’s
friend. When Salman fought with me, Salim Saab ordered him to come to my home
and apologise, which he did the very next morning.”.

The ugly spat, which
reportedly had both urinating on each other, has obviously been forgotten as he
now fondly says, “”Salman’s a good soul. I’ve realised that he’s truly a gem of
a person.”

Though he does have a few
regrets. “If he had watched his steps, he would have become an emperor in the
entertainment business. Apart from a few films, his talent hasn’t been exploited
well. I don’t want to present him as Salman in ‘Main Yuvraj’ (which deals with
the arrogance of today’s youngsters) . I want to present him as an actor like
‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ did.”

As for people talking about
Salman recommending Katrina Kaif as the female lead in ‘Main Yuvraj’, he once
again reiterates, “This is a modern film with a European backdrop. I never asked
Salman whom I should sign. And very honestly, Salman never recommended her.
Salman and Katrina were signed as independent entities.”

What about the lack of
chemistry on screen between real-life couples? “Why do you say that?” protests
Ghai .

“What about Raj Kapoor-Nargis,
Dharmendra-Hema Malini? Look at ‘Guru’. Audiences loved it much more once they
got to know Abhishek and Aishwarya are in love.

It’s up to the film-maker to
tap their potential. I’ll present Salman and Katrina in such a way that even
those who don’t know they love one another would want to see them in love.”
